All patients need a companion after surgery, if you don't have a companion with you, you will be transferred to the recovery house and you will be responsible to pay accommodation fee.
OPTIMIZING YOUR RECOVERY
PLANNING: Now that you've decided to have surgery, you need to decide where to recover. Depending upon the procedure, you may experience varying degrees of discomfort and lowered energy levels. This is a time when you will need extra special care.
Your recovery care choice should be made in consultation with your surgeon and our nursing staff. The decision is an important one as it can impact your ultimate result.
YOUR OPTIONS: We are recomending for your stay in Miami during your recovery with a companion. You may stay for periods of 4 to 10 days or longer. Please contact your coordinator for recomendation or you can look online. This option is especially appropriate for patients out town and for patients having multiple procedures. Our medical staff will advise you in this regard.
FAMILY AND FRIEND: If you don't choose to stay at a recovery facility, you need to be aware that for the first 24 hours after surgery, patients cannot be alone, you will have to make arrangements for your first post-operative night. Because you will have been sedated in surgery, you must have someone with you during the first 24 hours of your recovery. Patients often choose to go home with a friend or family member as their caretaker. While this is an excellent choice for emotional support, it does not provide professional medical care. This option is especially appropriate for patients having single rather than multiple procedures.
