You live in Florida and you've taken the first step and made the decision to get a breast augmentation.
Choosing the Right Size
Like the slipper on Cinderella's foot, breast size is unique to you. Whether you choose saline or silicone, implants come in different sizes. What you envision may not necessarily be the best option for you. Your surgeon needs to look at the width of your chest, breasts and the space between them in order to determine what he or she has to work with. The doctor will also consider skin's elasticity, and whether your breasts are symmetrical.
Your Consultation
This is the time to get your message across. Bring in photos of what you like to give your surgeon a good idea of your expectations. Try not to focus so much on cup size, since these will vary by bra and are not an accurate indicator of dimension. It may be a good idea to experiment prior to your consultation. Some methods include taking stockings, filling them with rice and then placing inside your bra to get an estimate on size. Others try a similar test by filling a plastic sandwich bag with water. Research your options. Some companies offer a pre-consultation kit with sample implants.
Surgeon Knows Best
Listen to your surgeon! Your doctor has performed countless surgeries and will know if your choice is too big or small for your body type. Your doctor will also discuss with you projection and profile, which can be high, moderate or low. Other things to consider include surface – smooth or textured, and shape – round or tear dropped.
