Breasts, bellies and skin aren’t the only things to go south as we get older. Eyelids also droop with age, but blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, may be the solution for you.

If people keep telling you how tired you look, you may be suffering from eye bags. What’s worse, drooping eyelids can also interfere with your vision because as they sag, the lids block your eyes, and side vision. You may also look worn down, which can cause you to appear older than you really are. Patients who undergo a brow lift surgery often choose to have eyelid surgery as well to give the face an overall, younger looking appearance.

One of our Miami plastic surgeons can perform blepharoplastyon you. By making small incisions in the creases of your eyelids, he will trim the extra fatty tissue and skin on your lower eyelids that cause the droop. He will also reposition muscles to make the area tighter and smoother. The result – a more rested, youthful look.

Post surgery, you may have some swelling and soreness, both of which are normal. You may also have, temporarily, extra tear production, blurred vision, and/or sensitivity to light. You’ll need to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes, and keep eyes lubricated with the special lotion and drops from your surgeon. You can usually be back at work in about 10 days.

Call your insurance provider. Some policies cover eyelid surgery for medical reasons.
